*****BREAKING NEWS – THE PCC ELECTIONS WILL BE POSTPONED UNTIL MAY 2021*******

Latest news is that the Electoral Commission has  called on the  Government to postpone May\’s PCC Elections.

Whilst personally I would be disappointed , I fully understand the rationale behind the recommendation.

In a time of crisis, when all minds needs to be focused on the job in hand, rather than political campaigning an election could be seen as an unnecessary distraction.

\"\"For several weeks now, my office in close co-operation with the Chief Constable and his team have been preparing for all outcomes, but whilst COVID-19 is a public health led event, the focus of our collective work has changed.

The operational resilience of the police is now a priority as the country deals with the Coronavirus.

My office will continue to provide  governance, support and oversight in the weeks ahead.

The voice of the general public has never been more important and remains my priority.

Please be reassured that your police will continue to protect you and traditional policing will continue, but may look different as the situation progresses.
