RETAIL CRIME MUST MATTER MORE.

Facebook
Twitter

In Gloucestershire ‘Every crime must matter’ and it seems to me that retail crime hasn’t mattered as much as it should have done in recent times.

Those who steal from our shops are a mixed bunch.

  • Some are organised criminals who operate on an industrial scale
  • Some local who are struggling to make ends meet
  • Some are just greedy and dishonest

… and some are abused women being directed by abusive and controlling partners.

The saftey and wellbeing of staff must matter to the police and the employer

Those who work in retail provide a great service to us, they deserve our respect and thanks.  Employers must provide a work place that is safe and secure and the police must respond to any threats or abuse promptly.

We had a plan, it wasnt implemented – the Tory PCC binned it!

In my last year of office, I produced a comprehensive retail crime strategy in partnership with the industry and the police, but it was binned by the incoming Tory PCC and never implemented.

My promise to retail

If elected as your Police & Crime Commissioner on May 2nd that strategy will be refreshed and implemented within three months of taking office and I will continue to make sure retail crime matters here in Gloucestershire.
